BUDDY THE BURN VICTIM

Buddy was brought into Nepean Animal Hospital after being severly burnt in an accident 4 days prior. He had full thickness burns to 70% of his body and was in a lot of pain. Buddy has been at our hospitals for several weeks now undergoing intensive care treatment to his burns, he is now eating and drinking well and we are pleased to announce has over come the 1st stages of recovery from his burns.
However there is still a long road ahead for Buddy, Buddy will remain hospitalised for many more months with his care costing in the tens of thousands. Buddy now needs specialist care in order to replace the lost and damaged skin with graphs and new skin transplants.

MISSING MAGGIE

Pictured here with our Practice Manager Allison, is Maggie the Jack Russell. Maggie went missing three years ago in Regentville and for the last few months a local resident has been hand feeding her and slowly but surely gaining her confidence, concerned for her health she contacted us and we helped her bring this scared little dog into the hospital for treatment. We contacted the registered owners who happened to be a local welfare group and she was immediately adopted by the resident who had spent so much time caring for her whilst she lived under the bridge at Regentville. Maggie is currently being treated for many different conditions but will make a full recovery. She is settling in nicely to her new home and all of us at Nepean and Mountains Animal Hospitals are just overjoyed that this little girl has a new life and a happy ending to her story.

 MY NAME IS EARL

Cranebrook teenagers Christina Jurjevic and Tobi Hamill found a terrified four-year-old staffordshire bull terrier on llandilo rd late one night and noticing his injury's, rushed him to our hospital.

We scanned his microchip and discovered his name was Earl, however his microchip number and the details attached, sadly were not up to date and so we were unable to contact his owners. On veterinary examination we discovered he was suffering a broken jaw, broken ribs, internal bleeding and a pelvis that was shattered on one side and fractured on the other after he was hit by a vehicle and left to die.Dr Tony Karolis has agreed to help Earl and cover half the cost of treatment.Local group No Kill Pet Rescue also heard of Earl’s plight and has managed to raise $1500 for his treatment so far.The brave pooch is not out of the woods yet. He still requires serious, expensive surgery in the coming weeks, and the girls are pleading with the community to dig deep and save their adorable new friend.“He’s a fighter and he deserves a chance. He’s just a sweetheart,” Miss Jurjevic said.Miss Hamill added: “We can’t thank Dr Karolis, Neva Forbes from No Kill Pet Rescue and everyone who has donated, but he really needs more help.

EARL UPDATE: 8/7/2011

" I would like to congratulate the team for doing such a good job on him. His Jaundice is resolving and he is eating "vets all natural" . Obviously his major issue is now is his bladder function and we need to work to ensure that he continues to improve. " Dr Tony Karolis

EARL UPDATE : 15/11/2011

It has been a long time since we last updated you on Earl and some of you have requested to find out what has been happening with him, so here is the latest update. Last Wednesday his new owner Neva came home to find he had eaten half of his tail, he was taken to the vet and they amputated because of what he had done. He has also had a recent fecal flush too as he managed to get to an old brisket bone in the garden and it blocked him up!!  Aside from these small dramas, he is doing so well, he is happy, continues to put on weight and his paws are healing nicely. Earl continues to amaze us all every day!

Earl is doing really well. He is a cheeky boy that continues to get up to mischief!

MAGGIE THE SILLY CAT

Maggie was run over for the second time by her owner in the driveway of their home recently. Many years ago the same thing had occurred and left her with a fractured femur. This time she broke her shin bone. More concerning however was that Maggie was also losing blood. It appears that she had damaged one of her kidneys during the accident. By the time Maggie reached Nepean Animal Hospital she was critically ill and needed an urgent blood transfusion. After a fortnight of care maggie was ready for surgery on her broken leg. A plate and screws were placed and a bone graft inserted at the fracture site. Maggie has now made a full recovery and is no longer allowed to sleep under the car in the driveway.

DUO DUO BREAKS HIS LEG TOO

1 year DuoDuo came home at 2am from a late night adventure badly lame on his left foreleg. After taking x-rays we realised that DD had broken his leg. Out came the orthopeadic equipment again on a slightly larger scale this time and DD is now looking for his next adventure.

AMBERLYN THE PUG'S C-SECTION

After complications during Amberlynn's previous pregnancy, we decided that the safest option was to perform an elective ceasarian. Everything went according to plan, using the safest anaesthetic techniques available and ensuring that the surgery was performed in a timely fashion, meant that all three of Amberlynn's pups were born healthy and went home with mum the same day.
