Veterinarians
Dr Tony Karolis BVSc (hons 1)
Tony has been fascinated by animals his entire life. He was determined to become a vet after watching one to many episodes of All Creatures Great and Small. He studied Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney and Graduated with 1st Class Honours in 2001. Tony is the Practice owner of Nepean & Mountains Animal Hospitals. Tony is our Senior Veterinarian and has a particular interest in orthopedic surgery. He is married to Anna and they have two young children, Hartley and Bonnie. Tony lives in Blaxland and enjoys riding his pushbike to work as much as possible. His interests outside his family, and being a vet, include surfing, martial arts, hiking, camping, politics and environmental issues, and cooking (he is an excellent cook indeed! [says his wife]). Tony avoids surfing at Bondi as he finds the waves there a little too crowded by tall blond vets who went to uni with him!
Tony shares his home with one cat Nemo, who is has the family crown firmly planted on his head, two birds (Indie, the Major Mitchell and Charlie, the Cockatiel), two dogs, Sasha (an old staffi X from the RSPCA) and Kirra a short haired, white, long legged larikin who believes that what's hers is hers and what's Sasha's is hers. A more recent addition of five rescued former battery hens have taken residence in the backyard and are duly laying more eggs than we can eat.

Dr Isabel Ling BVSc
Isabel graduated from the University of Queensland in 2008 with a Degree in Veterinary Science, she is also a qualified Pet Massage Therapist. She has a dog named Kinoko and a cat named Jasper and is also currently fostering a dog from the RSPCA named Theodore. Isabel has had a special interest in animal welfare since a young age as her family runs a shelter in Malaysia, which inspired her to pursue a career in Veterinary Science and volunteer at the RSPCA at Yagoona. She enjoys spending time on the beach with her dog and cooking in her free time. Tony enjoys eating Isabel's lunch when she isn't looking.

Dr Meichet Lee BVSc (hons 1)
Meichet graduated from Sydney University with First Class Honours in 2008. She enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine and surgery and has a particular interest in birds. Meichet is the proud owner of a puppy called “Jackson,” two cockatiels “Munchy” and “Cheeky,” and two finches.

Dr Christina Zhu BVSc (merit)
Christina graduated with Merit from the University of Sydney and travelled around the Tasmanian wilderness before joining Nepean and Mountains Animal Hospitals in January 2009. She has done some work at the RSPCA and CSIRO in Geelong where she learnt much about animal welfare, veterinary care and leading research. Her interest lies in small animal surgery and she hopes to pursue this through further post-graduate study in the future. In her spare time, Christina enjoys playing the piano, bush walking, fine food and travel. She loves the sounds of Beethoven, Chopin and Ella Fitzgerald. Her most loyal and loving companion is her 10 year old German Shepherd, Sylvie – who loves ear tickles and tummy rubs.

Dr Athanasia Chambers BVSc (hons 1) University Medalist. Aka. "Than"
Athanasia has always wanted to be a vet but initially completed a Bachelor of Engineering at The University of Sydney. After working for several years in the engineering industry, Athanasia decided to return to university as a mature age student to do what she always wanted to do - veterinary science. She graduated in 2008 with 1st class honours and, with the best marks in the year, she also received the University Medal in Veterinary Science. She promptly moved to France with her husband to have a little baby boy in January 2009. Athanasia returned to Australia in the middle of 2009 and now works part-time, juggling her work commitments with her baby Alexandre and Elfin and Rascal (her two chinese-crested dogs). Athanasia also has a horse, Jed, whom she rescued from the knackery. She is very grateful to her aunt and uncle who look after Jed on their property. Athanasia enjoys ashtanga yoga, walking her dogs and hopes to start horse riding again soon.
